Long beach 1.5 days

Hi. We are planning a mini trip to LAX and Perhaps long beach in Dec. We are a family of 5, two parents, 1 elderly but fit 80 year old grandparent and two teenagers 15 &16. We are planning our trip for the grandparent who is visiting from Australia -it is her 3rd trip to visit us - in previous trips have been to Cambria (Hearst Castle,), Yosemite, and Vegas. We live in Bakersfield. This willb e her first trip in December and wanted to show her Christmassy things. So far have planned to take her to Disneyland on Friday 7th Dec to see it all set up with lights and staying 1 night at Candy Cane Inn. (She has Never been to a theme park before) Then not sure what to do for Sat and Sun. Was thinking of driving to Long Beach and staying Sat night there and perhaps doing a gondola dinner (pizza) cruise to view the houses with christmas lights. Would 8th Dec be too early for this??? What else could we do there. Then on Sun spending some time in Hollywood. Before driving home to Bakersfield.

This isn't Long Beach, but in Torrance during that time period there is a neighborhood southeast of the intersection of PV Drive and Sepulveda, north of Pacific Coast Highway, that is extavagantly lit up.

We've done the Gondola Ride in Naples/Long Beach at Christmas to see all the lights. It was a great evening, we went with friends. I think the Christmas lights go up around Thanksgiving weekend, so you should be fine.

You need to reserve a weekend night in advance. Have fun.

Saturday night, 12/7, is the 30th Annual Belmont Shore Christmas Parade--getting to Gondola Getaway may be difficult due to street closures. Call and ask.

While not as fun as touring Naples in a gondola, but the homes are gorgeous is the Huntington Harbor, but the tour isn't starting up until the next weekend. http://www.cruiseoflights.org/

Many from the UK or former colonies want to see the Queen Mary! http://www.queenmary.com/index.php I am tempted to go see the Princess Diana exhibition!
