Tell us a little more about yourself and what you enjoy doing (museums, amusements parks, Hollywood type things, outdoors, etc...). How long will you be here and will you have a car?

There is plenty to do in LA. Beaches are really not the major attractions. Read the FAQs on this forum which list all potential activities. The Getty shouldn't be missed.

Hi! .... in mid twenties--love Hollywood type things and being outdoors...its currently 9 degrees where I live so anything outside is great! have already walked down rodeo drive and also where all the hollywood stars are...Also, drove up the PCH to Malibu on one trip but didnt find much to do but sight see and lay on the beach--not ideal for February, I am guessing... and yes i would have a car! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There are some great hiking trails you can take from the Hollywood area(just use the search function here and type in Hiking in Los Angeles)

The Griffith Observatory will deffinatly provide you with some fun times(and amazing views)

The Getty Center in Brentwood is deffinatly something to see.

You could do a daytrip down to Laguna Beach for example and stroll around there. Palm springs in February usually is warm enough to lay by the pool and work on your tan

Go to the beach! "Perfect beach weather" is a subjective term. We could have temps in the 60s and 70s in February. Since you're coming from Iowa, the beach may seem pretty warm to you. But to locals, it seems cold. So there won't be a lot of folks at the beach. If there's not much wind, (the wind coming off the cold ocean could make it seem chilly), it could be a nice day at the beach and you won't have to share your plot of sand with hundreds of other people. And because of our Pacific Ocean current coming from the north, the ocean here is cold, even in summer, so I don't think you'll be doing much swimming.

Spend a day at the beach. The crowds have gone and there is lots to do. Check out the Manhattan Beach Pier (3 mi. south of LAX) You can take a walk out on it and watch the surfers. Rent a bike or skates and go north toward Santa Monica or south toward Redondo Beach on the bikepath. Lots of young people out in the beach cities, you wonder if they work or go to school! Plenty of restaurants and shopping.

There is a lot to do and see in LA. Beaches are great, but he said he's already seen them and experienced that and when the weather was good. It's not a bad idea to see the rest of what LA has to offer, and only spend a day at the (cold) beach.
