Airport to Holiday Inn Walk of Fame

What is the best way to get to the Holiday Inn Walk of Fame from the airport?

There are 2 of us with a suitcase each - how much would a taxi cost for example?

If it is wheeled suitcases and not extra large, you can take the subway from Union Station to Hollywood and Highland. Then you have two blocks walk up Highland to your hotel.

From LAX, hop on the Union Station Flyaway bus right outside baggage claim. It's a big coach bus that can handle your luggage. You pay when you get to Union Station, about $4 per person.

What time of day do you arrive? The coach bus to Union Station can take as little as 45 minutes, then the subway ($1.25) up to Hollywood is about 25 more minutes.

A taxi would be in the $60-$70 neighborhood.

From our FAQs section (at the top of the TOPIC LIST), Click on ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE TRANSPORTATION:

SAMPLE FARES FROM LAX to COMMON DESTINATIONS...

To transfer between LAX and a hotel in the "Hollywood and Highland" area in downtown Hollywood, the above services would approximately cost as follows:

NOTE: Always compare prices for Prime Time and SuperShuttle!!

a. Shared van: First passenger: $24;Total for 2 passengers: $33; total for 4 passengers: $52

b. Exclusive van: $74 (for up to 7 passengers) or $80 (for up to 9 passengers). Remember, this van expresses to your hotel.

c. Sedan: $70 (up to 3 passengers -- including an 18 percent tip); $79 (up to 4 passengers)

d. Taxi: $45-$55 (including 15% tip, depending on traffic. The worst traffic is Monday through Friday, 6 to 9 in the morning and 2 to 7 in the afternoon/evening).

e. Union Station Flyaway ($4) + Red Line metro ($1.25 -- or buy a $5 DAY PASS from the vending machine in the metro rail station at Union Station for unlimited rides on the metro buses and metro rail trains for the day). NOTE: This $5 DAY PASS is NOT valid for riding the Flyaway Bus).

f. City/County bus: $2.50 (Exact change needed -- $1.25 per each bus ride. Two buses are needed to reach Hollywood from LAX. You may also buy a $5 DAY PASS from the first bus driver which is good for unlimited rides on the metro buses and metro rail trains for the day. NOTE: You must have EXACT CHANGE for the bus ticket or Pass. If not, you will be issued a ticket or pass but no change will be returned to you). NOTE: From your terminal, you must first transfer out of the airport to meet these buses, as indicated previously.

Thank you for all your help!

Just one other off topic question - could anyone recommend a good mexican restrurant within walkable distance from the Holiday Inn? (as the mexican food was excellent last time I was in California and it's much more authentic than the stuff we get in the UK!)

Thanks again!
