1 Night pre cruise

I am traveling to LA on the 26th DEC for a cruise to Mexico on the 27th.

We will be a family group including my parents and 13 year old son-Where would be the best place to stay for 1 night, not too far from the port,ie which area and Hotel ?

Well, there are 2 ports:

1. In Long Beach -- for Carnival Cruises

2. In San Pedro -- for all other cruise lines.

Make sure you go to the correct port!!

In either case, downtown Long Beach is your best bet for a one-nighter. The downtown area is compact and there are a couple of attractions that might interest you. My #1 recommendation is to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific. This is a remarkable place with both indoor and outdoor exhibits. The Aquarium overlooks the harbor and there are plenty of restaurants near by. You can also walk there from a number of the downtown hotels although there are plenty of buses or you could take a quick taxi ride.
