buffets in Southern California

Anyone know of any buffets style restaurants I could possibly hit while traveling the coast? I am looking forward to trying Souplantation. Got any others you could recommend between Santa Barbara and San Diego? Looking for mostly pasta, breads, salads, vegetables, desserts, etc. Not interested in Chinese, Mexican, or seafood.

Thanks!!

for your tastes, souplantation sounds the way to go. there are also hometown buffets, but they honestly aren't that good.

I understand there is a casino around the area. Usually they have decent buffets. Should I chance going there?

Hometown Buffet / Old Country Buffet. These are pretty good, inexpensive buffets. As you can see they have lots of locations in CA!

Also you may want to try Sizzler, again many locations:

We have "Sweet Tomatoes" in Oregon - same company as Souplantation - outstanding!

If your going to Universal Studios, you should check out Cafe Sierra at the Universal Hilton. It's pricey, but very good.

Cafe Sierra...do they have salads, also? I see many comments about the great seafood and sushi, but unfortunately not my cup of tea!! I'd still be willing to pay that price if there's something that I'll eat. Do you have to go to Universal to get to this place or is it a stand alone restaurant?

There is a souplantaion directly across from the Beverly Center mall in the Beverly Beverly Connection shopping center located at La Cienega and Beverly, practically in Beverly Hills.

Yes, Sierra Cafe does have salads also. They are famous for their fresh seafood, hence the numerous posts on it. But they also have fantastic prime rib and a wonder pasta station where everything is cook to order.

You do not have to go to Universal Studios to eat there.

Souplantation all the way, i make an effort to at least once a week to have lunch at the La Cienega Location. For the price, you can not beat it. Great food, clean, great stuff = Happy Lunch

Sierra Cafe is good, but it's mostly Asian food....Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. They do have things like lobster and prime rib. They also have duck and crab cooked Chinese style.
