We will be staying at the Sportman's Lodge on Ventura Blvd for 2 nights. Anyone know anything about this hotel and suggest things to do in this area.

You aren't too far from Universal Studios & Citywalk or the redline metro station - one stop to Hollywood. What do you want to do while you are here? Will you have a car?

We won't have a car as we are on a tour bus with a stop over and 2 free days is LA. Been to Universal Studios a couple of years ago and fancied one of those tours from the Chineese theatre but dont know how to get there from the hotel.

Use the public transit website, MTA.NET, to find routes. Your hotel's address is: 12825 Ventura Bl which is at the corner of Ventura Bl and Coldwater Canyon Av. Enter your starting and ending points (you can use GRAUMANS THEATER as the ending point) in the upper right corner of the MTA.NET home page. (Be sure that you are searching from 12825 Ventura BLVD not AVENUE or ROAD. Fill in the day of the week and time of day.

The route to Grauman's Chinese from the hotel (according to MTA.NET) involves a bus to the red line metro rail station followed by a ride on the metro rail for one stop into Hollywood.

Be sure to buy a $5 DAY PASS from the first bus driver of the day which will afford unlimited rides on the metro buses and metro rail for the day.

Sportsmen's Lodge offers free shuttle to Universal.....from there you can take the metro subway down to Hollywood and from Hollywood you can catch a bus to The Grove, to Beverly Hills, West Hollywood or wherever you decide to visit.
