Where to Stay

We have a trip planned arriving at the end of the month to LA, have been doing research in this forum for some time, but still can't seem to find a ideal located hotel, clean, and not so expensive ( less than $100 a night). We are having a car so that is not a problem, want to visit all the turist areas, etc. What hotels do you recomend?? We are low on our budget and dont want to spend it all on hotel rooms.

The best I could come was a Holiday Inn near LAX, but it doesn't include breakfast and have to pay extra for the parking.

I also, found a hotel in Ontario Mill, a little bit more expensive than the Holiday Inn ( I know 1 hour away - no problem for us ), that includes free breakfast, internet & parking, we have stayed in this hotel chain and are happy with it.

What do you think? What other options can we have. Dont want to stay in Motel 6, Days Inn or those types of hotels.

Thanks in advaced for all your help.

Do not stay near LAX or Ontario, both are inconveniently located. My personal recommendation is the Comfort Inn, West Sunset tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32655-d272668-… which has free secured parking garage and deluxe continental breakfast. Rooms are about as nice as you can get for a budget price range. It is located midway between Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles, fairly convenient for driving to many attractions. It has two minor faults: (1) Even in non-smoking rooms, you might get a slight smoking odor seeping in from the hall. (2) The immediate neighborhood around the motel is so-so at best, but no big deal if you have a car.

Start with biddingfortravel.com and do research on how to use hotwire.com and/or priceline.com

There's no such thing in Los Angeles for less than $100/night, it just doesn't exist, especially not without a parking fee and included breakfast! There's a Motel 6 in Hollywood on Whitley and has free parking, but you said no to Motel 6.

So, your only option is to use Hotwire.com or Pricline.com. But know that you're likely to have to pay a parking fee no matter what, and finding breakfast included is going to be tough.

Or, up your budget a little and stay at Orchid Suites or Celebrity Hollywood.

Staying at LAX or Ontario is extremely inconvenient and not a visit to Los Angeles at all, but a visit to an airport or to Ontario.

Read recent threads here on the subject of hotwire, there are recommendations of what to get and which hotel is on offer.

Here's from a recent thread, that HopSkipJump wrote, and is current, so grab this deal

3. The Carlyle Inn -- a boutique-style hotel (Beverly Hills adjacent) -- non-smoking property. Info at:

http://www.carlyle-inn.com/rooms.php

(Rooms start at around $145 per night(. Hotwire.com is also offering a:

3-star hotel in Beverly Hills - Westwood - Century City for $69 per night.

While Hotwire does not disclose the name of the hotel until you provide credit card info and pay for the room, it seems likely to be the Carlyle (based upon hotwire's description of the hotel) If this is true, you'd save over 50% by booking on hotwire.

Ontario can be almost two hours away during certain traffic hours.

Check out the Jolly Roger in Marina del Rey, or the Howard Johnson in Glendale.

But what are you going to be doing while you're in Los Angeles? The city is a lot more challenging to get around than it looks on a map...so your itinerary should determine your hotel choice.
