Please help right very wrong planning

Hi all

I am quiet depressed afterr reading the FAQs from this forum and realise that we may have caused alot of hassels for ourselves in booking our hotel in the anaheim area only. Our hotel is paid and cannot be cancelled. So here lies our problem.

We are driving from San Diego to Anaheim on Wed Am earliest possible time and staying until Sunday and driving to Lax before 9 am and return our rental.

we have rented a car for the duration.

2 adults travelling only

hotel booked in anaheim disneyland area, paid for and cannot cancel

We have purchased the southern city passes.

would like to go to

LA zoo

Disneyland

California Park

Universal studio

studio city walk

Hollywood

Sunset Strip

Rodeo Drive

Grauman's Chinese and the Kodak Theatre

Walk of fame

Union station

Venice Boardwalk

???any more places to if time permitting.

Can you please please help with plans parking, route, best to avoid traffic and optimise sightseeing and time etc.

Have we got time for all this in such little time?

what is the best plan of attack. I have read that is it best to stay a couple of days in LA but that is not an option anymore.

very desparate for your expert guidance

cheers

Deep breathes - you'll be okay - you'll just have more time in the car and you'll see more freeways than you would otherwise - but you'll be able to enjoy the days...

Disneyland and Cal Adventure is right there - so you may want to plan that in the middle of your trip to break up the commuting.

Universal Studios and City Walk can be done together, have dinner in the area and head back to Anaheim after traffic. (it is about 30-40 minutes w/out traffic)

Why do you want to go to Union Station? It is downtown L.A. and not much around it? An option if you are tired of driving is to take the train from Anaheim to Union Station. Go to Amtrak.com for pricing and schedules.

Hollywood, Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive, Grauman's Chinese, Kodak Theatre and the Walk of fame can all be done in one day as well (even a half day). Drive up after rush hour, relax and enjoy the sites, have dinner in the city and then drive back to your hotel after rush hour in the evening.

Do Venice / Santa Monica or other beach towns on it's own day. You may want to hit this the morning that you arrive - come straight up the 405 - stop in the beach towns for lunch and then head over to Anaheim.

We always stay in the Anaheim area,a few years ago we took an LA tour by coach, booked through our hotel(presumably yours could do the same),it took in most of the sights that you mentioned without having to worry about getting lost or parking,I hate coach tours normally but this was very enjoyable,it may be an idea for you!

Ok, so you basically have part of Wed. and all of Thurs, Friday and Saturday.

Honestly, you could easily spend 3 days doing Disneyland (1-2 days) and California Adventure (1 day), so you are going to have to do some prioritizing.

Read my reply in your other message thread about how you can do:

Hollywood

Sunset Strip

Rodeo Drive

Grauman's Chinese and the Kodak Theatre

Walk of fame

Union station

Venice Boardwalk

in one day.

You can easily do Universal Studios and Citywalk in one day.

Universal Studios and Citywalk are near Hollywood, so you could combine a trip to Hollywood and Universal Studios in one day if you're willing to drop some of the other items like Venice, Union Station, etc.

The San Diego zoo is world class. The LA Zoo pales in comparison. If the San Diego Zoo is not enough for you, there is also the excellent San Diego Wild Animal Park. LA Zoo is probably 1/2 day. But, honestly, its a waste to go there on the same trip as San Diego - it would be a big let down and afterwards you'd probably feel as if you didn't use your time wisely. So I suggest skipping the zoo in LA and doing the zoo in San Diego instead.

Some great recommendations, above. Here's another. To lessen the number of times that you will be driving from Anaheim to L.A. and back to Anaheim, on your last trip into L.A., take your luggage with you (check out a day early) and stay at a hotel at the beach (Venice, Santa Monica, Marina del Rey).

Yes, you'll be paying for two hotels on the same night but when you consider the reduction in driving and stress associated with staying at one of these beach communities (which are only 10 to 20 minutes from LAX), it's worth splurging a little.

Take a look at hotwire.com for that last night and see what deals they have in Santa Monica/Marina del Rey/Venice.

Good luck!

Relax - What you will find is that you won't be spending a lot of time at your hotel, but you will be able to see everything on your list. On work days just try not to be driving back to Anaheim before 7:00. Everyone else has already given great suggestions, but staying off the road during peak work traffic Thursday and Friday will help also.
