PCH San Diego to LA

Is the San Diego to LA PCH a nice drive? We have done the stretch from SF to Hurst Castle, and I realize that would be difficult to top it but are trying to make a decision as to how to get north from San Diego the last of December so as to have a gorgeous drive.

-If we decide to drive the PCH, how much time should we alot for this with only bathroom/gasolline breaks?

Keep traveling!

There really is no such drive.

PCH does not run the stretch of the ocean, it becomes an inland drive - you would be zigzagging a lot and it means a very long drive.

There are stretches, however, when it is worth the detour - from Dana Point to Newport Beach, for example.

I'd probably take it from Dana Point up through Seal Beach, then abandon PCH and cut across Long Beach and San Pedro and then circumnavigate the Palos Verdes Peninsula (on Palos Verdes Drives South, West, and North) for some great views. Then proceed onward to your destination.
