Oct 29th – Train from Anaheim to LA. Took red line metro to hotel. (Comfort Inn on Sunset Bvld – see review). Too early to check in so had lunch at In N Out. Took bus to Los Angeles County Museum of Art. First went to the tar pits which are next door. Very interesting. Not impressed at all with LACMA, with 7 buildings (1 under renovation) I was expecting a lot more. Some of the art was nice but there is way too much empty space. It’s good for a nice overview but it’s not concentrated on any one single area.
Tried to go to Koreatown for dinner but missed connection so instead went to Little Tokyo. Went to place called Oomasa, sat at sushi bar as wait for table was 30 minutes. Apparently you can only order sushi but not from the regular menu when at sushi bar?!?!? First time for everything I suppose. Very good but expensive sushi.
Oct 30th – Went to Chinatown for dim sum at place called CBS Seafood. Pretty good dim sum and average priced. Bought some cheap shirts and a hat. Off to Universal Studios, went to most of the rides and shows. Wasn’t too busy except at the Simpson’s ride.
Oct 31st – Leave hotel for flight back to Vancouver. Took the flyaway bus from Union Station. Nothing interesting except highway patrol stopped all 6 lanes of Hwy 101? for a single car accident. Bus driver was able to make up the 10-15 minutes lost.
Some final thoughts and comments. Your metro stations are really nice though you could use some new trains. Not sure what’s the point of those barriers on the platform, so you don’t fall in between the cars but instead fall in front of the train? Also your turnstiles are useless as everyone goes through the handicap gate. Definitely need to come back to LA. Two days is way too short
