Everyone has their preference.

Camarillo is closer than Cabazon and I think just as good, especially with Camarillo's expansion.

The Citadel is improving, but still not the same quality as the Premium Outlets.

The only way for you to decide though is to go to their websites and see which specific stores each has and which one has most of the stores you want to visit.

Closer to what specific area? To many, the Cabazon/Desert Hills Outlet combo (they are right next door to each other is just as close as Camarillo, and the Cabazon/Desert Hills has more high end stores. Also, for those who like to gamble, the Morongo Casino is very close. And for most folks, you drive my the Ontario Mills Mall, which has many outlets on the way there.

The closest two are the Citadel Outlets and the Outlets at Orange (formally the Block).

Here are some links to the LA Times that talks about Southern California Outlets from earlier this year, and a map of where all the Malls are located.

But the best advice was given above, go the specific Outlet Malls you might think about visiting and look at the Malls Directory.

Just remember there are two malls side by side at Cabazon/Desert Hills. If you only click on a link to one of them, you wouldn't get the full list of stores.

Ok as a girl I would prefer Cabazon/Desert Hills Outlet, forget Citadel IMO it has nothing special but some junk from here and there, I would not even waste gas to drive to it, LOL

I have been to Camarillo, it is very far from you since you are in Irvine, Cabazon/Desert Hills Outlet is closer to you, I did not like the camarillo myself, I was very surprised lately about the Desert Hills Outlet as it has expanded so much compared to few years back, it is nice to visit before Christmas and arrange a full day to be there, eat, shop or just walk around and watch people, LOL.

I wouldn't say that the Citadel Outlets are a waste of time, it just finished one large expansion, and already has 2 more being worked on. It is worth a stop, easy access just off Interstate 5 in Southern Los Angeles City.

Since I think you live in the Irvine area, checking out the Outlets of Orange (also easy access from Interstate 5, just south of Disneyland and the Citadel Outlets is a short drive (as compared to Cabazon/Desert Hills) and would be easier and more than likely you would find what you are looking for.

I wouldn't call the Citadel a waste of time, it just isn't as good as the Premium Outlet Centers. The only way to tell is to look at the specific centers website and see if they have the stores you want.

If you wind up going to Santa Barbara, the Camarillo outlets are on the way. If you live in Irvine, the Carlsbad outlets are probably as close as the Citadel on a time to travel basis.
