Need help with a very short visit May 7th

We are staying at the Sheraton Gateway for 1 night on May 6th gettin in quite late. We fly out of LAX again on 7th at 11:30 pm.

We would like to do something on the day of 7th but would have to use public transport - either go down to the beach for the afternoon and then eat early evening or perhaps to a shopping mall.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

There is an Ocean Express Shuttle nearby(free), that can take you to Manhattan Beach Village(shopping mall with some stores and Macys) and the Manhattan Beach Pier. They pickup from a couple of stops at Century blvd where your hotel is located. It picks up once an hour until the evening.

Here's the schedule:

As a backup plan to the free bus, you can walk 1/2 block east to the corner of Century and Vicksburg and then walk 4 blocks north to 96th & Vicksburg. There, will be the bus station for LAX. Pickup the MTA (municipal) bus (#232) southbound to Manhattan Beach. Get off at Roecrans Avenue for the Manhattan Village Mall and then when you are ready for the beach, switch to the #125 bus going west on Rosecrans for the 1 mile ride to the beach. (The bus actually stops a couple of blocks from the beach -- ask the driver where to get off). Or, there is a bus that goes directly from the bus station to the beach (the #439)

The pier area is the busiest and, perhaps most interesting. You can either walk down to the pier from the beach at Rosecrans Av or stay (or get back on) the #232 bus south to Manhattan Beach Bl and then switch to the #119 bus on Manhattan Beach Bl to the Pier area.

The fare for each bus ride is $1.25 or you can buy a DAY PASS for $3 from the first bus driver which will be good for unlimited rides. The MTA buses start running at 6 in the morning compared to the free bus which starts at 11 am.

Bus schedules and routes are available at MTA.NET.

Use addresses, street intersections or landmarks as the statting and ending point for your trip. The following are valid starting and ending points:

1. Youir hotel's address

2. LAX (which means the bus stop on 96th Strret & Vicksburg)

3. Manhattan Village

4. Manhattan Beach Pier

etc.

Good luck and have a great time!
