Beachfront luxury resort help!

Hi everyone, may be travelling to the LA area in mid March. Looking for a beachfront luxury resort. Travelling as a couple, no kids. Looking for luxurious with a spa, nice dining, water views. Have no problem paying up to $400 per night. Also willing to travel a bit, maybe Laguna beach or something else. Pretty open and don't know the area well. Thanks in advance!

There are four beachfront luxury hotels in Santa Monica - Loew's, Shutters, Casa Del Mar and Le Merigot. They aren't resorts, per se, but they all do have a spa and all have great restaurants inside of the hotels or there are many nearby. $400 should probably be sufficient for them as March is not high season.

Otherwise, you'll have to look to the south. In Palos Verdes, there is the Terranea resort which has all of the above, plus a golf course, etc., and overlooks the ocean. However, I suspect Terranea will be more than $400/night and its situated at the top of bluffs overlooking the ocean - the coast there is not sandy beach.

Other options would include the Hyatt in Huntington Beach, or the Montage in Laguna Beach though I suspect $400 not enough for Montage.

Well, $400/night isn't high enough for what you seek - which would be resorts like Montage in Laguna, Terranea in Palos Verdes, Shutters in Santa Monica.

With your budget, look into Le Merigot, Loews. They have nice spas, are on the beach, and amazing restaurants within walking distance (in all directions).

Google is showing the Terranea starting at around $300 a night, so in the price range. A beautiful location, though somewhat isolated.

And FYI, the Terranea Resort has created a sandy beach area, so you can enjoy the ocean and the sand at the same time. But the rest of the shoreline in the area is fairly rocky.

If you can go to San Diego instead, try the Hotel Del Coronado.

I would price out The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, Loews Santa Monica, Shutters on the Beach and JW Marriott Santa Monica Le Merigot. The Ritz is probably the most luxurious, the Hyatt Regency the least, but every one has something that makes it special or unique, choose from them.
