Where to stay in LA

We are in LA in July and are looing at number of rentals. We are hoping someone can give us some insights into the following address - the feel of the neighbourhood, proximity to key attractions and access to public transport. We don't plan to have a car?

Thanks in advance!

First, drop the Santa Barbara address if you want to see LA. Santa Barbara is 90-120 minutes driving from LA.

For the rest, these are all long streets - saying the rental is on Sunset Blvd., for instance, tells us only that its somewhere on a street that's about 20 miles long. Tell us the exact street addresses or at least the nearest cross street and then we can give you the information you're looking for.

We need the links to the properties, those could be anywhere. Some of the streets you list are miles and miles long.

Staying at any rental in LA and not planning to have a car will be difficult to get to major attractions, as LA is quite spread out.

Welcome to TripAdvisor and the LA forum, Katrina. The web links would be very helpful so we can see the locations. And Santa Barbara is far; it's lovely, but a separate visit.

Hotels may be a better bet because you can find more of them along the transit routes. Homes, on the other hand, will usually be further away, requiring some walking to bus stops.

That N Detroit St VRBO I think is probably the one that has been mentioned here several times. All the comments have been positive. If its that one It is in the Fairfax district. Very lively, safe.

Without a car, go with this one (the first one) https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/604344 or the last one on the list, this one https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/169580

The others, you would have to have a car. Santa Barbara is two hours away by car (second one), so drop it.

Agree, those two locations are your best bet - its hard to tell completely precisely where they are, but at least we can get a feel for where they are now - the first and the last listing are both seeming to be near the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave., which is a big public transit hub so an ideal location if you aren't driving.
