What is the best way to get from Hollywood to Disneyland?

Hello,

What is the best way to get to Disneyland from Hollywood with a two year old?

We are only looking to go there for a day trip not overnight.

Many thanks!

Without a doubt, rent a car.

Thank you. Can I do that when I get there or would it be better to organise it before we arrive? I assume car seats can be hired along with a car?

Cheers!

It will be better to organize it before you leave Australia, since you can rent a car online from there with the insurance already included. And yes, child car seats can be hired along with a car.

Having a car is best way to get to Disneyland, and anywhere else around Southern California, from Hollywood.

A car is the best way because you can go to Disneyland on your own schedule - arrive when it opens and leave when it closes, which really lets you maximize your time, especially at the start of the day when the park is less crowded and so lines are shorter. Other ways of going (public transit, tour bus) usually mean arriving a couple of hours after it opens and/or leaving before it closes. Even if your 2 year old gets tired, with a car you can leave when you want to - with a tour bus, you have to leave when they do.

Yes, you will be able to rent a child safety seat with a rental car.

I would suggest with a 2 year old you may want to consider an overnight. It would be very convenient for you after you are tired from walking around all day, and to be able to take a rest if needed during that day by just walking across the street from the entrance to rest. And then you factor in rather than trying to get out of the Parking lot with everyone else at night when the Fireworks show is over which is popular time to exit, and can take a while, but the show is a do not miss one.

Some people choose to overlap their stay, and get somewhere inexpensive just across the street from the Disneyland Main Entrance, so a short walk, and dont check out of their LA Hotel. So thats an option for you.

Here a Map of Hotels in the Disneyland area. The Disneyland Main Entrance is off of Harbor Blvd near where it says "East Shuttle Area" on the Map. If you decide you would like help finding somewhere to stay, you can post in the Anaheim forum with a budget per night and your dates.

Also keep in mind that the first few hours after opening time are the least busy time at Disneyland, and if you want to be there right when it opens, you would need to leave before rush hour starts in the LA area if you are comming in on a weekday. It takes about 1 hour in good traffic from the LA area to Anaheim where Disneyland is located. And you would want to factor in about 30 min to park and actually get into the Park.

There is no best with a two year old since you need a car seat. Are you bringing one with you?

Yes you can rent one from a car rental company, but how are you getting from LAX to Hollywood? You have to have your child in a car seat whether it is a taxi or shuttle and lots of them do not provide them.

Hmm no, we aren't bringing one with us as we are going to DC and NYC and will not be able to bring a stroller and a carseat.

Can you order a taxi or shuttle with a carseat? Obviously, we will pay extra if they are able to provide one. I assume you do not need a carseat on a train or bus?

I didn't realise the laws were different for California, DC and NYC.

Thanks for the tip :)

Are you going to Disneyland FOR your two year old or yourselves? If it is for the benefit of the toddler, I would skip it. Two is too young to go on most rides or appreciate Disneyland.

Theres plenty of rides a 2 year old can go on at Disneyland which is set up for familiies to enjoy themselves together, and be able to go on alot of rides ect together. A 2 year old is fun to take as they are just becoming aware of the Charaters, and can be fun for Parents to watch them, and the child Imo.
