The location, now called the TCL Chinese Theatre is popular, and to see the hand and footprints, you just deal with the crowds. Earlier in the day usually have lighter crowds.

Also, if you want to check out the history inside the place, they do offer a tour for a fee.

The TCL Chinese Theatre is part of the Hollywood and Highland Shoppertainment Center, and has low priced parking if you drive there, or you can take the LA Metro red Line Subway to the station located underneath the complex.

Also, plenty of things to see and do, some are free, such as walking down the Walk of Fame (Stars), a good view of the Hollywood sign, and then paid attractions such as a tour of the Dolby Theater (formerly the Kodak, home of the Oscars), Wax Museums and more. Here is a link to a bundled package of attractions at a discount.

Are you talking about looking at the hand and foot prints in the courtyard or going to the movies there? FYI, the theater ownership has changed so Grauman's is no longer part of the name. The new owner has dubbed it "TCL Chinese Theater" but I'm guessing that like the previous owner (Manns, who initially named the theater Mann Chinese Theater), people won't call it that. I'm content with the name "Chinese Theater".
