LA accom for all things "touristy"

Sorry if you're all getting sick of the questions that have probably been asked a thousand times before.

We are looking for accommodation from 26th-29th of April 2014 in LA.

We would like to see Griffith park, universal studios, walk of fame and all other tourist type things, but unsure where to stay. What area should I be looking in, our budget is around $200 a night.

We do have a hire car, would it be wise to leave the car with valet for the duration of our LA stay and use public transport/walk or should we drive?

Thank you.

Start by reading our FAQ and Top Question section, especially where to stay. Yes, you'll need a car in LA, it makes things much easier and quicker.

Look in Hollywood for your hotel. Look at orchid suites and celebrity and holiday inn and others near Hollywood and highland.

Hi! try homeaway.com, we did it when we went to New York and we're doing it again for LA. We're REALLY close to touristy places, and I find it to be cheaper than a hotel, plus, we get to buy food and save a little money since the places are fully equipped ;) have fun!

I would start with the Orchid Suites and the Magic Castle Hotel near the corner of Hollywood and Highland, great central base for most of the Tourist things you want, plenty in walking distance, Universal Studios is one subway stop away from the corner.

Use your car. Hollywood is the best place to find a hotel within your stated budget, its close to most of the sights that you mentioned, its a big tour bus hub and a public transit hub should you decide to use public transit, but for most things it will be far more convenient to use your car.
