What to do before a Lakers game with two teenage boys

I am coming into LA early before Lakers game with two teenage boys. Never been to LA. Suggestions for where to go and what to do to get the most bang for our buck- sight seeing and food.

Do they have anything in particular that they like to do? L.A. is enormous and has hundreds of attractions. How old are they? (13 year olds are a lot different than 19 year olds).

I'll assume you're looking for things to see and do in downtown before the game.

The Grammy Museum seems like an obvious idea. It is right next to Staples Center and part of the LA Live complex.

You could do some sightseeing in the Bunker Hill area -- Disney Concert Hall, Cathedral, City Hall. All are iconic and architecturally significant and open to the public. They are all within walking distance. There is cheap parking at the Cathedral.

If the boys like anime, maybe Little Tokyo would appeal.

Lunch at Phillipe's or before the game is great. Plenty of Kings fans stop here before the game. However, it isn't close to Staples. So you'd have to plan a bit. Still, it is a classic LA place.

Another possibility is the California Science Center, where the space shuttle orbiter Endeavor is located. Its an easy ride between the science center and Staples Center on the Expo Line light rail train. If you want to go, plan visit carefully and get tickets in advance - admission to the main exhibits in the science center is free, but the space shuttle requires paid tickets that include timed entry (i.e. you'd get tickets for 2PM). The Science Center is also next to the Museum of Natural History (think dinosaur fossils and the like) and this may also be of interest to them.

14 year old and 17 year old and they just love basketball. Hope they can get into the game early to get close to the players!
