Help needed.

Hi all we are staying at the Andaz West Hollywood in April flying in from Las Vegas and wondered whether we should use LAX or Burbank we will be relying on public transport or taxi to the hotel .If any body could give us rough idea of the cost of a transfer to compare would be really grateful.

Many thanks

Fly to Burbank - its a little closer, but more importantly its a much smaller airport so you should be able to get out of there much more quickly. Taxi about $35-40. From LAX taxi probably $5-7 more.

Stick with Southwest to Burbank. They have more direct flights to Burbank than any other airline.

And, Southwest allows 2 free checked bags and a free carry on and a free 'personal item' (like a laptop). Add to that, they de-plane using both forward and aft doors simultaneously so you're off the plane twice as fast. If you want to use public transit, it's a 2-step process from BUR (as it is from LAX):

a. Exit the airport by turning left as you leave the terminal and following the sidewalk until you see a street crossing your path (which is Hollywood Way). Don't cross the street; instead, look to your right down the sidewalk and you'll see a nearby bus stop. Take the Metro #222 bus southbound on Hollywood Way to the last stop (Highland Av, just south of Hollywood Bl).

b. Get off the bus and continue walking down Highland Av to the corner of Sunset Bl. Here's a walking map from the bus stop for the 222 (marked "A") to the bus stop for the onward bus (marked "B"): http://mapq.st/L7seoV (It's a slightly downhill walk of about 6 minutes). The onward bus stop is on the northeast corner of the intersection of Highland Av & Sunset Bl and the bus, the #2 Metro Bus will pull up on Sunset Bl heading west. The ride is 12 minutes and the bus will stop directly in front of the hotel.

The fare for each bus is $1.50. The #2 runs frequently (sometimes as often as every 5 minutes. The #222, meanwhile, runs only once every 30 to 45 minutes (depending on the day of the week/time of day) -- less frequently, in the late evening. So check the schedule in advance and remember to give yourself some time in baggage claim and to de-plane -- 30/40 minutes -- plus time to walk to the off-airport bus stop (10 minutes).

Actually Southwest is currently the ONLY airline that flies nonstop between Vegas and Burbank.
