Leaving Luggage at / near LAX

Please can you advise on left luggage facilities at / near LAX. We will be travelling to LAX from Anaheim in the morning (Saturday) for a flight to SLC early evening and would like to drop off our bags somewhere safe so we can go to Hollywood / Venice Beach etc. Any recommendaitons would be appreciated. Thank you.

http://laxluggagestorage.com/ I have not used it, nor seen reviews. How would you get to LAX, then to Hollywood, etc., and then back to LAX? You could also rent a car with a trunk large enough to hold all your bags. Rent in Anaheim (there are off-airport rental locations, near Disneyland), and drop off at LAX. That would be my choice, as long as you park in safe areas. Don't know what you include in "etc." Why Venice Beach? Manhattan Beach quite close to LAX. Seeing the highlights of downtown Hollywood shouldn't take more than an hour or two max, including finding parking (which you'll pay for).

It would make the most sense to rent a car if you weren't already planning to do so. Keep your luggage in the trunk. LAX Luggage Storage is expensive - you'd probably pay them more than the cost of the car rental, and the car rental will make it far easier for you to travel to the places that you want to go.

Add to that, using the service WASTES TIME since you have to order them to come to the airport to pick up the luggage (wait, wait) and then order them to return your luggage (wait wait). If you'd rather not drive, you can take an Amtrak train (not metrolink!) into Union Station in downtown L.A., leave your luggage at the 'baggage office' there, take a red line metro rail train into Hollywood (15 minutes). Getting to Venice from Hollywood would be impractical though as you'd need to retrieve your luggage. You might consider taking the downtown loop of the Hop On, Hop Off (HoHo) tour. The tour bus stops across the road from Union Station.

After the tour, transfer to LAX via the Union Station Flyaway Bus from the bus plaza behind the station (departures every 30 minutes; transfer time; between 30 and 60 minutes depending on traffic; the bus stops at each terminal in the airport; fare is $10).

If you still wanted to go to Venice, you could checked your bags at the curb (kerb?) and take a taxi to Venice or use public transit (the latter would take a while -- maybe a bus to the beach and a taxi back to the airport).

Amtrak is a good idea! Metrolink commuter trains aren't generally practical if you have more than a couple of bags total, and then only if you stand by the doors (they're made for commuters). From Anaheim, Amtrak won't cost much extra. Union Station is lovely, and there's plenty of things to see downtown (e.g., Olvera Street, Grammy Museum, Bradbury Building, Angels Flight) and, as noted, it's a quick subway ride to Hollywood. Just forget Venice Beach.
