It really depends on your hotel budget, if you will have a car or not (its highly recommended that you do) and what you want to see. If you won't have a car and are on a tight budget, then staying in Hollywood near the intersection of Hollywood blvd. and Highland ave. is a good choice, as its both a big tour bus (www.starlinetours.com) and public transit (www.metro.net) hub. Budget hotels there include Motel 6 on Whitley ave., Orchid Suites and the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, but there are more expensive and nicer options there. If you will have a car, generally its best to stay somewhere other than Hollywood as there are many areas are nicer than Hollywood and which tend to be more central - these include West Hollywood, Westwood, Beverly Hills, Century City and Santa Monica.

Also, please tell us how many people are in your family and how many beds you will need. Most hotels in L.A. will have rooms that can accommodate 4 persons at the most and they will offer just 2 beds so if you're children need separate beds, we'll need to help you find accommodations.
