I don't know of any great hotels in the area near LAX with a good restaurant/bar and breakfast. What is your exact schedule, why do you want to be near LAX, and why do you want breakfast included (something you can get anywhere for about $10)?

If you stay in Venice, somewhere like the Erwin or the Cadlllac, they are near LAX, have great restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk and also great breakfast, but not in the price.

What is your actual budget for the one night?

My advice - included breakfast in the price should not be a factor. You can get a basic breakfast at McDonalds for $5 per person. Why choose a hotel based on something so insignificant?

In any case, what is your budget for the room for the night?

We land at Lax than transfer to a hotel for one night than have to transfer back to the Airport to pick up the coach for a ship.

About £100.00 a night, just don't what to spend time looking for some where to eat in the morning.

Land on a Tuesday afternoon, than have to go back to the airport on the Wednesday morning.

Try the inn at Playa del Rey. It is close to LAX and they have a great free breakfast. There are also several excellent restaurants and bars (The Tripel, Cafe Pinguini) within a short walk of the hotel. Close to the beach and they will loan out free bikes for a ride on the bike path. It might be a little out of your budget, but I think it's a great place to spend the night.

An included breakfast would not be high on my list of things to recommend a hotel. Is a "free" breakfast worth staying in a hotel with inferior rooms? I'll take the good nights sleep over an included breakfast.

Both the Embassy Suites are nice and do have good breakfasts but not sure if they are in your price range. Custom Hotel would be my first pick even if I had to pay for breakfast in the morning.

Agree with Scott on all counts. If you're prepared to stay some place other than along Century Bl (where most airport hotels are located), you will find plenty of places for breakfast. Local people need to eat breakfast to so since L.A. is a major metropolitan area, there are restaurants everywhere.

That said, if you want to make things simple, the Custom Hotel ticks most of the boxes:

a. It is an 'airport hotel' in that there is a free shuttle to/from the airport

b. But, it's not on ugly, traffic-ridden, cement/steel and glass-ensconced Century Bl. It's on the north side of the airport in a residential neighborhood.

c. Hotel has a bar and free breakfast

d. Several dining options within easy walking distance including a supermarket with take-away food.

e. You can grab the #3 Santa Monica Bus at the corner which will take you to a number of places including downtown Santa Monica (beach).

If you're willing to venture away from the airport, the Fog Horn Inn is on a little cove on the inland waterway in Marina del Rey (just north of the airport), Even though they're not an 'airport hotel', they provide free airport transfers. Not sure about breakfast but there are plenty of dining options nearby. The hotel is on a small beach facing the marina (think: "lots of colorful boats'). This is a basic 2-star property in a beautiful location.

It's a simple 15 minute walk to Venice Pier/Beach or you can jump onto a bus for the 2-minute ride (but it will take 3 minutes to walk to the bus stop, 5-10 minutes to wait for the bus and there's a 1 or 2 minute walk from the onward bus stop to the beach) so walking would take about as much time and the walk is pleasant enough. There isn't a bar in the hotel but there are adjacent restaurants with bars.
