Transportation from LAX to San Pedro Pier

We will be leaving on a Princess Cruise from San Pedro pier. Does anyone have a suggestion for the most dependable transportation to the pier? We do not want to rent a car. Also, is the pier quite a distance from LAX? Thanks.

Here are the transfer options (as taken from our TOP QUESTIONS BOX):

It's a drive of about 35 minutes WITHOUT TRAFFIC from LAX to San Pedro.

For lots of helpful information about your cruise, try going to Cruise Critic, a TripAdvisor "sister site". There are many different forums where you can ask cruise-related questions. You'll even find a forum for your specific cruise: here's the link to the Princess "Roll Call" page - just find your ship and cruise date.

You may have to sign up to view the roll calls, but it's a simple process just like on TripAdvisor. There are also forums for various departure ports. Here's the link for West Coast ports:

There's a search feature on all forums. You should find lots of discussion about transportation or you can ask your own specific questions.

The cruise port is around 20 miles from LAX, so yes, it is a large distance. www.primetimeshuttle.com or www.supershuttle.com would be the usual suggestion. Taxi about $75.

The only thing that I would add is that the shared van service is $17 per person, definitely cheaper than a taxi. The downside is that you need to wait for the shared van to get a full load from the airport, and then they may make stops, dropping people off before they drop you off. If you are tight on time, your blood pressure may get dangerously high. The taxi cab is more expensive but quicker and simpler. With four of us we go for the cab.

Yes, that is the bad thing about SuperShuttle, but you may get lucky like I did Friday, got picked up and at the next stop we picked up 6 peeps going to Long Beach so van was full and off we went. But that is more the exception than the rule.
