This past Sat. we enjoyed a pleasant afternoon on the Madera Wine Trail for their Wine and Chocolate weekend. We started out at Birdstone Winery where they were serving a nice Italian lunch of pasta, Caesar salads and bruschetta. We sampled several very good wines here and really loved their Merlot. There were tables set up outside, the weather was gorgeous with blue, blue skies and fluffy white clouds. There were also several different kinds of cheeses that we enjoyed sampling with our tastings.
Next stop was Chateau Lagoisty which was very, very crowded. We sampled many nice wines here and really loved the Blanc Du Val and their Rose Du Val, two nice blended wines. We enjoyed some cheese here and some chocolate cheesecakes and homemade brownies.
Next on the wine trail was Quady, specializing in dessert wines and Port. The Orange and Black Muscats were very, very good here and they had a very nice selection of different art work on the walls and sculptures to view while enjoying your wine. There is also a nice gift shop here to purchase the wines, olive oils, salad dressings, etc.
Our last stop was the San Joaquin Valley Wine Co. Many nice wines here, also and they had a really cool Chocolate fountain where they were dipping Strawberries and Pretzels to enjoy with the wines that were offered. This was a very nice way to spend the afternoon on Valentine's Day before a nice dinner at Fleming's Steak House which was wonderful. :)
