If you're coming to the Monterey Peninsula soon . . .

A must-see is the blooming ice plant along the coast in Pacific Grove. Imagine a bright pink carpet laid out along the ocean. If you start at Lover's Point (the intersection of Ocean View Blvd. and Forest Ave.) and head west toward Pebble Beach, you'll see this beautiful display for about three-quarters of a mile. Here is a photo to give you an idea of what you'll see: istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/36793…

The photo doesn't really do it justice.

PGdenizen: Great advice. We were there a week ago for afternoon and dinner, and the ice plant was absolutely amazing.Well worth seeing. Photographs do not do it justice (although your photo you shared is quite good.). It is really great to see it in person. Have a good spring.

Hi aj

Looks like our trips to the Monterey Peninsula will intersect at one point! Hope you enjoy this area as much as I do. Even if the blooming ice plant has started to fade, there will still be some leftover pink blooms for us to enjoy.

Have a great trip!

We were stationed at Ft. Ord back in the early 90s. I always think of the iceplants this time of year. They were so beautiful.

I just drove by again today. They're still blooming. My friend, who grows them in her yard, told me that they bloom their fullest in the sunshine. It's foggy today, so they looked a little "shy." Can't blame it--it's downright cold today! Snowflakes, I hope you get back to visit sometime soon.

That is why Snowflakes is back on here lurking around. It will be 20 years this fall since we have lived in Monterey. I don't know as if my heart has ever left there. It will always hold a special place in my heart. Hoping for next spring!
