Outlet shopping in Monterey area?

Not visiting California next month to shop but two daughters like Ralph Lauren, Hollister etc. Monterey is our longest stop - 4 nights. Any recommendations for outlet shopping in the area please?

TIA

There is a Coach outlet in Carmel on ocean avenue that is pretty good, but other than that, the closest is the Gilroy outlets.

Take a half day at Gilroy Outlets. Study the map as there are 4 areas that are somewhat spread out. Go on a weekday as it's crowded on weekends.

Have to share this... the Premium Outlets (Gilroy is a branch) pop up banner came up on the phone after I posted. The internet knows everything, Skynet (Robocop anyone) is here!

Pug - not sure if you're mum or dad but shield your wallet and bring something to entertain yoyourself if you're not into shopping. It's big there.

Even if you go to Gilroy, also check out the Coach store in Carmel. Awesome deals there! :).

There's the American Tin Cannery Outlet in neighboring Pacific Grove, as well, but I don't know what stores are there.

I think you'll find that the locally-owned shops on the Monterey Peninsula are far more interesting than the standardized chain store outlet malls.

We stopped at the American Tin Cannery outlet last year because I had bought some stainless cutlery there quite a few years before. It was a shadow if its former self.....maybe three stores.

If you want interesting stores, shop on the Monterey Peninsula. If you are looking for outlet "bargains", then Gilroy is your nearest choice.

Sorry, I've just never gotten outlet shopping. Thirty years ago outlets really were places where major labels put their first quality overstock on sale. Now, the stuff for sale in most outlet stores is specifically made with lesser quality materials solely for the outlet stores. Even the labels are slightly different, in case people try to return the stuff to a full price store. I would follow Mr. Toy's advice, since the Gilroy outlet stuff can be found in hundreds of other stores just like them all over the country.
