drive from los angeles to morro bay

Hi all, I have some questions that i hope someone maybe can answer.

I plan to drive from los angeles to san francisco along highway one this summer.

Im thinking about haveing my first overnight stay in morro bay.(the second in big sur and the third in monterey)

Is it a really long drive from LA to Morro Bay?

Will I miss alot of beautiful scenery if i go the 101 to morro bay instead of highway one? (I plan to go highway one for the rest of the way up to SFO)

Will highway one take alot more time up to morro bay?

I will leave LA on a saturday morning, will the traffic up to Morro Bay be horrible? should i leave LA really early?

Hwy 1 along So Cal's coast ends in Oxnard. From there, you pretty much have to take the 101 up to San Luis Obispo and pick up Hwy 1 there. There is another section of Hwy 1 near Lompoc to Pismo Beach, but this route is inland and not along the coast. Unless you want to see a lot of small rural towns I suggest staying on the 101.

LA to Morro Bay on a Saturday morning should be a fairly comfortable drive of around 4 hours, give or take using the 101 freeway to the 1 in SLO.
