funky places to stay?

Would appreciate hearing your advice on interesting, unusual & funky places to stay in Napa. We like character in our accomodations -- any suggestions?

Three that come to mind:

Calistoga (in Napa Valley) Indian Springs

Safari West - Wake up with the sound of giraffes

Riverpointe - they are luxury trailers with outdoor decks; swimming pool, spa, walking trail by Napa River:

or any one of the unique bed and breakfast such as Old World Inn

Thanks for the reco, mini. We do pride ourselves in being a B&B that is a fun place. :)

We like your challenge, Chapinite, and our first ideas that come to mind are:

1. http://www.christianbrosretreat.com/

Stay at a monestary! Rooms w/no AC, and a 20 min drive to any food. But truly unique-- read up on it.

2. http://www.napavalleyrailwayinn.com/

Stay in a caboose in the middle of restaurant mecca! Again, not for everyone. But you asked for character-- and funky-- and unusual. What could be more unusual than eating at Michael Chiarello's newest restaurant (Bottega), perhaps even meeting the world-famous chef in his kitchen, after your dinner, then strolling a few hundred feet to fall asleep in a train car?

************

3. www.ncfaa.com/skyline/horse_camping.htm

Saddle up and overnight in Skyline Park with your equine buddy. Bring a guitar and howl at the moon!

************

4. http://www.napavalleyexpo.com/f-rvs.html

Bring your RV and camp within the town limits of Napa-- just 2 blocks from the new Oxbow markets!

************

5. http://www.historicinns.com/

(12 local B&Bs) Stay in a home away from home with some friendly locals as hosts. Discover the best places to eat, small wineries that will welcome you like family, and perhaps even find some offbeat suggestions for things you've never dreamed of!

Hey, this was fun.

We hope you have a groovy stay in the Napa Valley! :)

Calistoga is a pretty interesting place, very laid-back and relaxed area of the wine country famous for their mud baths. We have stayed at Indian Springs Resort and enjoyed our time there very much. Lodging is in little bungalow cottages. If you are a resort guest, you can use their Olympic sized pool until midnight here. Very cool! :)

I second the Christian Brothers retreat - very quiet and peaceful - they mostly have twin beds. The area is beautiful - close to Hess Winery. It's on Mt. Veeder - access from Napa's Redwood Road.

I also like Safari West- but this is actually in Sonoma County. It's on a mountain road that goes from Calistoga to Santa Rosa. Cool place to stay!
