What recommendations are there for a nice seafood restaurant in Napa? Also, any suggestions for wineries that offer dinner in their restaurant or vineyard? Thank you, Mary Lee

hi marylee1952 - I wouldn't say Napa is known for its seafood restaurants as much as the farm-to-table movement. Most every top restaurant in the area serves some fish dishes. The only 'seafood' restaurant I can think of is Fish Story in downtown Napa.

Of course, if you like sushi, try Morimoto, also in downtown Napa.

For oysters, try Hog island at the Oxbow Public Market.

Domaine Chandon is the only winery with a white tablecloth restaurant where you can have dinner. V. Sattui also has food during their regular business hours. There is a county ordinance, or something like that, against having restaurants at wineries but these two were grandfathered in.

Thank you! We will check out Fish Story. Which farm to table restaurant would you recommend?

We have dined at Chandon and really enjoyed it. So no dinners actually in a vineyard then? Any must do wine tours we should take? Thanks again for your recommendations , we appreciate it!

The farm-to-table movement was pioneered in the Bay Area and in Napa Valley, too many choices to list here. Suggest that you google search 'farm-to-table napa'.

Fish Story is much improved since Scott Ekstrom was hired from neighbor Angele. We had an excellent dinner there a couple of weeks ago. We had a table outside and our group was able to carry on a conversation once the amateur live music stopped playing at the restaurant next door. Avoid Thursday nights if wanting to dine outside.
