That's sad. I am starting to wonder about Coco's in Orange County. I meet with a group monthly at the Coco's on Bristol near the airport and recently the service has been cut back drastically so that there is often just one server working the floor. I'm sure they have cut back in the kitchen too as it takes a very long time for the orders to come out.

I'm still bitter from when that Coco's kicked out C'est Si Bon, who used to be in the back before Coco's expanded in the late 1990s.. That C'est Si Bon had bigger menu than the one down PCH, although I still frequent the existing C'est Si Bon.

You are kidding right?

Long, long, looooong before there was ever a C'est Si Bon that space was the Snack Shop Bakery and the entrance to the Snack Shop, which was the forerunner of Coco's. It was the original Snack Shop that the McIntosh's bought and used to launch their business that grew into Far West Restaurants that included Coco's, Ruben's, the Ruben E. Lee, Wuben's and I think Baxter's was theirs as well before they sold Far West to WR Grace and retired.

If I remember correctly, they closed the bakery at the Snack Shop because it was too small. It had been supplying all the other Snack Shops with baked goods, but there got to be too many Snack Shops so they opened a bigger central bakery for the baked goods.

I liked C'est Si Bon. We used to get their Buche de Noel for Christmas, a Chocolate Bomb for Easter or birthdays, but when they moved to Riverside it just seemed too far to go..... yeah I know, not that far, but it was the "other side" of the bay and all that. Sometimes when I am headed to Hoag I stop for coffee and nostalgia.

Anyway, at some point Coco's needed the space back and that was that.
