What and when is the Christmas Boat Parade?
A 105 year old tradition in Newport Beach. People decorate their boats in holiday lights, most add music, and then follow a multi-mile route from the Newport Peninsula, down to the harbor entrance, back past Balboa Island, to the Arches, back around Lido Isle and back down the peninsula to where it started. Here is the 2012 route map.
Not only is it fun to be in it, but revelers line the shore as well or drink and dine in the bars and restaurants that offer parade viewing.
It is generally the third week in December and runs for for five nights.
It is one of the best holiday activities in Southern California. Here are the websites.
If you want to be in the parade, several companies offer charters and special cocktail cruises.
