Hotel for Raiders Game

Here are the 9 closest hotels (in order) to o Co Coliseum, which would some of you recommend to stay at when attending a Raiders game? Won't have a vehicle so most are within walking distance (top 3) but can also take shuttle from other ones.... which are decent? Which to avoid?

Days Inn Hotel Oakland Airport Coliseum

La Quinta Inn Oakland Airport

Quality Inn Oakland Airport

Courtyard by Marriott Oakland Airport

Best Western Airport Inn and Suites

Park Plaza Hotel

Holiday Inn Hotel Suites Airport

Hilton Oakland Airport

Econo Lodge Inn and Suites

Leaning towards Days Inn, while La Quinta I read some bad reviews, others have stayed at Hilton and with the shuttle said was a good stay.... anyone have experiences at any of these?

Raiders Game in the 2012-13 season. Is that correct ? Their Season just ended for this year and the next Season is Fall of 2012. I don't think one needs to book this early for a hotel close to O.co

If you are there for one night after the game, it really should not matter. You could take BART to any hotel along the BART route including Oakland downtown itself as it has nice hotels and more importantly restaurants and night life that you could walk to.

Stay in San Francisco and take Bart.

Its easier to get to the stadium via bart then to stay at one of the hotels in the rather boring area.

If you take Bart (bay area rapid transit), you get off at the station and walk directly to the stadium. That makes it the easiest.

If you are just flying in late for the game and then flying out again after the game, just stay at any of the ones on your list that has the best rate. Any will do as Belosimer has mentioned.

Unless you are in town strictly for the game, I recommend staying at a hotel along the BART line. Unlike the hotels around the Coliseum, hotels in downtown Oakland, San Francisco, and Berkeley are in more interesting neighborhoods with restaurants, night life, etc. Taking BART to/from the game is as easy as walking to the stadium or taking a shuttle, and considering the neighborhood around the Coliseum, it also would be more pleasant.

yes this is for next season, later this year probably Sep/Oct (2012)..... and I will be flying into Oakland probably the Saturday morning, would like to be somewhere close to bars and restaurants maybe party it up night before the game with other Raider fans... Sunday goto the game..... then would probably go across to San Fran and spend the day there Monday before heading home Tuesday.

So sounds like more to do staying downtown Oakland, approx. how far is it and how long to get to the stadium via the Bart? How much would it cost from downtown (Bart).

Thanks

It sounds like downtown Oakland will be the best fit for you. The BART ride from 12th Street/Oakland Station to the Coliseum is 10 minutes and costs $1.75. Quite a good deal! Be sure to buy a $3.50 ticket so that you don't have to stand in line for another ticket on the way back from the game. See http://www.bart.gov for details.

The most centrally located hotels in downtown Oakland are the Clarion, Marriott, and Courtyard Marriott. It's slightly out of the way, but the Waterfront Hotel (at Jack London Square) would be my first choice. If you don't mind the walk or short bus ride (http://www.meetdowntownoak.com/shuttle.php), then that is the place to stay! You can find a good mix of nightlife at Jack London Square, as well as in Old Oakland and Uptown Oakland. (See the shuttle maps for orientation.)

Was told by others that may be better to stay in San Francsico (downtown) as more to see etc... plus we want to do some sightseeing after the game the next day in SF like alcatraz etc.....

how easy is it to get to the Coliseum (Oakland) from staying in SF? How much would the BART cost and how long would it take to get to the stadium approx?

thanks

It's very easy to get to the stadium from SF via BART. The link that scott provided about will provide fare info and length of trip.

There are lots of hotels around the Powell St. BART station and some around the Embarcadero station as well.

The colesium is walking distance from the Colesium BART station and many other fans will be taking the walkway as well.

One tip: when heading to the game, buy a ticket that has round trip value on it so you don't have to stop at the fare machines on the way back. Just don't lose the ticket.

Just to show you how close the BART is to the Coliseum here is the map of the BART station there:

I've stayed at 2 of the hotels on your list and my recommendation is to stay in SF.
