oceanfront recommendation?

We are going for our anniversary and would love an oceanfront or good oceanview romantic place- fireplace would be a good touch. Any suggestions in pacific grove/monterey/carmel?

Hi. I just responded to you on the Monterey forum. In Pacific Grove, there are two B&Bs across the street from the ocean--beautiful views. Green Gables Inn and Seven Gables Inn. Both are within walking distance of some excellent PG restaurants. There is a walking trail that runs along the ocean that is great for taking in the views.

The 2 bed and breakfasts are quite nice...and fun to go to. Another option if you want more a hotel type setting, is go to Spindrift Inn.

spindriftinn.com/html/monterey-honeymoon-hot…

Its $$$$ priced however....

Other options of course are Spanish Bay Inn...as well. This also is in your $$$$ category.

If you want an ocean view (versus ocean front) as its higher in the hills, also consider:

Tickle Pink

or

Highlands Inn

We have staed twice at Tickle Pink and many times at the Highland's Inn, both of these properties have gorgeous oceanviews and many nice amenities. TPI has an outdoor terraced hot tub, robes, wine and cheese reception, champagne and truffles upon arrival and a very nice breakfast buffet included with your room, served by the cozy fireplace or in the oceanview room. Have fun at the coast! :)

Seven Gables was designated by American Historic Inns as "one of the 10 most romantic inns in America." After our stay there Oct. 21-23, I can enthusiastically recommend this B&B as among the best of the more than a dozen where we've stayed. The review I submitted should soon be posted. We stayed in Arbor, one of the more affordable and therefore smaller rooms, but it certainly didn't feel cramped. If you definitely want a fireplace, your options are Jewell Cottage, Sea View Cottage, Carriage House or Mayfair, I think.

What's the upper end of your budget? A place that is more affordable and right on the beach is Monterey Beach Resort. It's the only hotel that is directly on the beach. It's not the most romantic place, but you can't beat the sound of the surf.

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is also very nice in Monterey, the Beach Resort previously mentioned is a nice property but no fireplaces in any of the rooms here. :)

Given all received for our $$$, we considered our stay at Seven Gables an excellent value...generous breakfasts, daily gathering of complimentary California varietal wine and cheese from 5-6 p.m. in the Main House, homemade cookies with milk each evening, bottled water, coffee and tea and fresh fruit available throughout the day, evening turn-down service included a Ghiradelli chocolate left on each pillow. The personal attention and the homey touches abound: escorting every guest to their front door when they check in, binoculars in each room to watch the waves roll in and out, high-thread-count bed linens and both down and fiberfill pillows so guests can choose their preference, even lanterns and flashlights in case of a power outage. And I was greeted at our arrival with a small gift of Monterey chocolates and a “Happy Birthday” message left in our room.
