Boutique wineries

My husband and I will be in Paso for our first visit in May. We are looking for the best boutique wineries with great service and hopefully options for tasting from the barrels. Not a huge fan of Bordeaux style wines. Any suggestions?

Linne Calodo produces amazing Rhone blends -- syrah, mouvedre, marsanne, roussanne, viognier. Their zinfandel blends are equally good. Definitely worth a visit!

PR is also known for great rhone blends as well as zinfandel. There are so many great wineries to choose from that I can't name them all. Jada & Opolo are 2 of my favorites (and they're close together). L'Venture has a good rep. Have enjoyed Proulx though I haven't been there lately. Gotten some good wine from Caliza & Zenaida, and I could go on and on. For picnicing I would go to Calcareous of Daou. Both are on hilltops. I think I prefer Calcareous though Daou is a much more elaborate place. It's hard to go wrong in PR, especially as everyone has different paletes. I will say that I think the best wineries are located west of 101. Have a great time.
