Elk Grove to Moraga w/o a car?

Or even Sacramento to Lafayette? What are the options other than car or taxi? Thanks!

Amtrak Capitol Express to Richmond BART. You'll have to transfer on BART at the MacArthur station to get to the Pittsburgh/BayPoint line that will take you to the Moraga or Lafayette stations.

Go to Amtrak.com and download the Capitol Corridor Service schedule. There are 8 trains a day in each direction. Direct transfer to BART at the Richmond Station. www.bart.gov/schedules/quickplanner.aspx…

Do you have someway of getting to Moraga from Lafayette? It's a long walk. There is no Moraga station on BART.

I'd actually do it a little differently. I'd take Amtrak to Martinez, then a County Connection bus to Walnut Creek BART (line 98X). At Walnut Creek you can take BART one stop to Lafayette, then take County Connection #6 to Moraga. The advantage of this is that Martinez is before Richmond, so it's a shorter ride on Capitol Corridor, and it's a much more direct route.

The 98X only runs on weekdays, however. On weekends the 316 bus runs from Martinez to Pleasant Hill BART but very, very infrequently.

Thanks everyone. He has a potential drop-off and pick-up at each end, but he decided the $54 round trip cost wasn't worth a day or overnight trip.

$54? He could rent a car for the day for about $30 plus the gas he uses if it's a day trip.
