Stay a night in St Luis Obispo?

Hi,

My wife and I will be traveling the PCH mid-September. We would like to set up base for a night in SLO. Any suggestions where to stay there, or an area in the vicinity? We mainly want to see the scenery and worthwhile attractions. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rich

Hi

Take a look at Madonna Inn in SLO. You won't easily forget a stay there.

If you like beef, don't miss the tri tip at the Firestone Grill. It's worth waiting in line.

Hi Rich

What kind of scenery are you looking for? SLO is inland away from the coast. It's a pleasant town, but not where one would base themselves to see the sights with only a one night stay.

Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, Morro Bay, Cayucos or Cambria are all on the coast and within a 30 minute drive of SLO.

We like the La Cuesta Inn for an overnight in San Luis Obispo.

Sycamore Springs Resort is a nice property there with Gardens of Avila restaurant and mineral water pools and hot tubs. Have fun! :).

At that time of year I would take advantage of the nice weather but bit calmer beach-crowds and go with Avila Beach (Avila Suites or San Luis) or something in Pismo ( what's your budget for the night?)

BY PCH are you meaning Highway 1?

If so, I'd stay in one of the beach cities (Cambria, Cayucos, Pismo Beach, etc) over SLO unles you have a specific reason for staying in SLO.

The Madonna Inn at SLO is an attraction all its own.
