Santa Barbara 3/27 - 3/29 lodging/food/sights suggestions

My 18 yr old and I will be checking out UCSB and would like to stay somewhere different. Looks like the Canyon Cabins are booked, but she is looking for a unique experience. If not glamping, then a cool B and B or small motel. Neither of us has ever been to SoCal. We want to spend some time sight seeing in Santa Barbara. Would love restaurant suggestions. We are energetic athletic and adventurous (with food as well).

Ideas appreciated! Thanks!

Actually for a small motel, the Motel 6 (the one that is right at the beach) is one of the best-reviewed Motel 6 locations in the country. Marina Beach Motel is also a fun place.

The Motel 6 (#1) on the beach is a no-frills motel. It does have a pool. Cabrillo Inn is another no-frills motel with pool, and better views.

Santa Barbara has good Mexican food - My favorites include Los Arroyos, Los Agaves, Super-Rica, Carlito's, and Rose's on the Mesa. The Palace Grill is a fun restaurant for Cajun food. Good food, atmosphere, and views in the same restaurant are a bit hard to find here, but you might enjoy Brophy Bros, or Santa Barbara Shellfish.

SB Shellfish Co. is on Stearns Wharf which is very scenic. They have some really good lobster bisque there and lobster plates.
