Horseback riding in Solvang

My S.O. and I will be spending a couple of days in Solvang at the end of this month (for NYE actually!) and were thinking of doing a horseback trail ride. I've read that Rancho Oso is a good place for tours, but it's over 30 minutes from where we're staying in Solvang. Any suggestions?

Also, as a side note, I realize Solvang closes up shop (so to speak) pretty early in the evening. Does anyone know of anything going on for NYE? We keep it pretty quiet, but just wondering...I know Chumash Casino has some kind of disco party...

Thanks!

Try contacting the Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort in Solvang. I have heard good things about the place.

Too late for this couple but for others you cannot ride at the Alisal unless you are staying there. No exceptions.

The only two public riding facilities are Rancho Oso and Circle Bar B. Both have nice trails and very quiet horses. Both are about 25 minutes from Solvang.

I appreciate the responses. Thought I'd just write this as a follow-up:

We tried to make reservations at Rancho Oso but they were extremely booked and not very friendly over the phone. Their guests clearly get first priority over those not staying with them.

We ended up going to Circle Bar B which was wonderful. The road to get there was a little narrow and winding but the landscape was beautiful. We rode in a small group of 5 people and had a very informative, interactive guide. The price was better than Rancho Oso and it was a much longer ride. We could see the fog rolling in off the ocean, waterfalls, streams, and caves. I'd definitely suggest Circle Bar B to anyone wanting a lovely trail ride.
