Just came back from Sonoma and visited Dry Creek, Russian River and a little of Geyserville. The wineries we visited were the following:
Carol Shelton wines (Santa Rosa) - excellent wine - try the Rockpile (great story and great wine) In an industrial park so go for the wine not the view. Carol knows what she is doing you will see when you taste.
Bella Wine Caves (Dry Creek) - Beautiful winery, a little crowded for my liking but I see the appeal. Bought a bottle, the new Ten acres has a great Pinot and the Late Picked Zin is a great desert wine. Take pics.
Preston (Dry Creek) - Great organic wine, delicious bread and olive oil of course. We even bought some goat cheese, yum. Beautiful vineyard. Barbera and the L. Preston were my favs. The girls pouring did not give much info on wine, but nice premises.
Everett Ridge Winery (Headelsburg) - Our favorite! We are joining the club. I do not want to say too much because I want to keep it as my secret. But awesome winery, staff, and cheese puffs. Enough said.
Deloach (Santa Rosa) - Gorgeous, superb private tasting. VERY knowledgeable staff. Friendly and delicious delicious ZINS! By far the best Zin on the trip.
Tara Bella winery (Santa Rosa) - Okay runner up with Everett - I might move in with the owners, also became a club member. They make Cabs believe it or not, and wonderful small winery. Only 500 I think they said they make a year. All estate grown.
Lynmar - Beautiful view, nice Chardonnays. Take pictures, a little busier than I would have liked. But I think you can picnic on the area too.
Boisset (JCB in Headelsburg Downtown) - Unbelievable wine, probably the pricier of the bunch, but beautiful wine shop and great side by side tastings with the European vs California. Bought a bottle and buying another today that did not have room in my luggage for.
Clos du Bois - a little too big winery for me, but good wine. Gorgeous views, and they make a nice Malbec and a great Cab franc. They also have a yummy Tempranillo.
Lambert - no attention given walked right out.
These were on our list but we missed:
Yoakim Bridge (closed on Mondays)
We heard mixed reviews on Ledson so we opted out.
I am sure they are more we would have loved. We are big on the small vineyards. So I made a list for our next trip, hope to do another visit soon. We used Sharon Garrow (firstname.lastname@example.org) of Valet Moon as our driver and I already wrote a separate review on her - AWESOME is all I have to say.
