3 nights in Sonoma, 1 night in Napa

I am heading to Sonoma and Napa with two of my closest girlfriends in a couple weeks. We fly into SFO on Friday morning and will be spending 3 nights in Sonoma, 1 night in Napa and then our last night back in San Fran. We are running a half marathon between Sonoma and Napa on Sunday, but otherwise haven't made plans. I've been to Sonoma once before and loved it, this is the first time for the other two. We are interested in good food and wines, as well as some sparkling wines. What are some great spots that shouldn't be missed?

Sparking wines:

1) Sonoma area

Gloria Ferrar

2) On the drive from Sonoma to Napa

Tattinger Domaine Carneros

3) In Napa Valley

Schramsberg for a tour (if interested, reserve tour in advance. Excellent staff, interesting tour of this historic winery)

Mumm - View of Napa Valley - sit back and enjoy sparking and a cheese platter (i.e. you do have to pay extra for the cheese platter but very nice to do the higher end tasting here - sitting back towards the end of the day.

Domaine Chandon - Excellent but pricey lunch or dinner at Etoile

Good food at many places

Sonoma Fig and the Girl

Napa - Celadon, Morimoto or Goose and Gander (among many many others)

The restaurant in Sonoma referenced by mini is not the Fig and the Girl, but the 'girl and the fig'....not capitalized for some reason. Good bistro food. For fine dining, across Spain Street in the El Dorado Hotel, the El Dorado Kitchen....has a nice patio if the weather is warm. Also look at Della Santini's, Cafe la Haye, and for casual, also with a nice patio, the Red Grape.

Have you secured your lodging yet?
