Relocating to Sonora Area

Relocating to Sonora Area

We are have opportunity to relocate to the Sonora/Soulsbyville/Twain Harte/Mi Wuk area possibly a portion of the year. Anyone out there to advice/recommend areas or neighborhoods that would be great for a second home, or what to watch out for? I was looking at crime rates, which are relatively higher in this area than the national average.

First of all, TA is about travels, not relocation. So your post will soon disappear.

But check out www.usa.com for local data.

This post will probably be removed for not being travel related.

Just know that while Sonora is a picturesque little town, it's also meth country.

Rephrase your question and ask about Sonora as a place for a lengthy vacation, including questions about surrounding towns.

This is a charming historic area, in the middle of the Mother Lode (Gold Rush) region and a day trip away from Yosemite, San Francisco, Sacramento, or Fresno. But yes, some of the rural areas do have meth issues; it's a widespread problem in rural California, e.g. the Sacramento Valley and San Joaquin Valley.

I have a home further up the hill. I like the higher elevation as it is cooler in the summer, quieter and the air quality is better. Twain Harte is very nice as it is away from Sonora but close for shopping etc.
