Things for teenagers to do Stinson Beach

We are considering renting a house in Stinson Beach in July. We are two families with 7 teenagers between us! I would love to know what the village of Stinson has to offer in terms of entertainment for them. Really, they just need a place to walk to, buy an ice-cream, have a coffee. Is there a supermarket, cafe or restaurant?

Thanks

If your teenagers just need to be able to walk around and grab an ice cream Stinson is a great place to do just that. We have spent a lot of time there on weekend and day trips and it makes a nice little self-contained trip. There is a grocery store with the basics and it has a little coffee bar outside, the store is a short walk from the beach (everything is in Stinson). There are a couple of surf shops, one very close and another a little down the road. The public library is also right there and there is an ongoing outdoor Shakespeare production in the summer. We recommend eating at the Park Side Cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner and next door to that is a walk-up-and-order at a window place for kid friendly favorites. The other restaurants are a mixed bag - there are two on the main street. The one on the beach side is okay usually (but a bit pricey) and the one across the street is atrocious - never go there. Bad food, worse service has been our experience and we did give them a chance. We parked in front of it one day and the owner watched from the deck out front, waited until we got out and told us to move our car - the spaces were for his restaurant only. Not true, which we confirmed from the locals, but he was angry that we did not comply and proceeded to throw food all over our car.

If the kids get bored on the beach there is a place just up the road on the way to Bolinas where you can rent kayaks and things. Otherwise you might end up driving over to Marin. Hope that helps!
