Fun Bday Dinner?

I am trying to make reservations somewhere for a fun birthday dinner. I came across Shogun Japanese Restaurant where they do teppan style dinning (sounds fun), but I was wondering if anyone else has any suggestions. We are staying at Pechanga and I am wondering if it's even worth it to leave the resort to head out somewhere else for dinner (like Old Town)

Hello - if you have been to Benihana's, the experience is the same at Shogun. Its a fun thing to do. Keep in mind that the tables sit 8 (?) or so people, so if you are a party of 2, you are sharing the rest of the table with strangers or if you are a larger party, you may have to split. Call the restaurant and see how many tables they sit and perhaps make reservations. Depending on your food tastes, budget and what you consider fun, there's Lucilles at the mall - great BBQ - or P.F. Changs (chinese chain with good food - ok atmosphere), there's Texas Looseys, Texas Lils, and Harry's Pacific Grill that is across the parking lot from Shogun. Romance dinners don't seem to be what you're looking for - so I'll stay away from those. Pechanga itself has several restaurants, but they are very expensive, and some even require advance reservations. I personally do not like Pechanga because of the smoking that is very prevalent throughout - my eyes burn and my hair and clothes stink when I enter for even a few minutes. Your profile doesn't give me a hint as to your age group, so I'm a little limited by where to send you. If you send me a PM and want to give me more of an idea of what you like to do, the size of your group, I can point you in the right direction or give you a few more hints. By all means, please leave the 'resort' at Pechanga and see the beauty of Temecula. Pechanga does not do the City justice. Many of the locals think the building is an eyesore and we cringe when people only associate Temecula with the casino.
