Weather in July in Trinidad and coast?

Hello all, we are already planning our summer exodus from the AZ desert and love the CA north coast. Already have plans for Mendocino, but also looking at revisiting the north coast redwoods, have not been back in decades. We are flying in and out of Sacramento first week of July. If my CA memory serves me well, the hot inland can bring some fog on the coast in the summer months, so does that bring alot of fog this far north to the coast?

It will be foggy in July then again it might not be foggy in July you cannot predict it, go inland 2 miles and it will be sunny. That is why the redwoods are here they need the fog for water.

The temps are already climbing here in Scottsdale and we finalized our plans to include a few nights in Trinidad this July and then heading to Mt. Shasta. Cold, wet air will be very welcomed by July. Any new suggestions for casual dining up that way? Local grocer to recommend?

Last time we camped during July in Patrick's Point -- we woke up DRENCHED from the fog. And we went inland 1 mile and it was sunny!

Some options to consider:

The Peg House in Leggett. You'll be glad after the twisty turny section but the food itself is great: tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g32618-d22… and sunset.com/travel/…

Further north in Klamath in the Redwoods: This could be hit or miss since they changed ownership but an all you can eat salmon BBQ for $12.50 on Sat? http://www.kampklamath.com/bbq_css.html

Costco in Eureka for $1.50 hot dogs (with soda). OK. Just joking. But fuel up if you're a member!!

Also -- fresh blackberries growing wild at Patrick's Point State Park especially along the coastal trail.

Hi AZFan

For places to eat near Trinidad there is the very expensive Moonstone grill they have great service and food but sky high prices. We splurge once or twice a year there. Less expensive and nice is the restaurant at the Casino. There is an organic café. I ate at a new burger place in the parking lot of the Murphy's market and it was ok. Murphy's carries local organic produce and makes good sandwiches and some to go items. If your really picky you can go to the the coop in Arcata or Eureka.

Have Fun

We have had similar experiences camping in that area in July. I take a stocking cap and usually wear it to bed.

Murphy's has a better than average deli and they have lots of items that are not deep fried. I liked it so much I added it to TA:
