Lodging

Has anyone stayed at Arrowhead Village or Market Square Lodge. This will be our first family ski trip out west. We are planning on meeting up with two other families with children ranging from 7 to 17. Information about the lodges and how accomodating they are to families would be great.

Also, what about their ski lift access?

Thanks!

1. Re: Lodging

wantingtoski, we recently returned from a BC/Vail trip. We stayed at the Kiva, which was excellent for our family. Scott, Claire and Susan (manager) were all very knowledgeable and helpful with information about the area. We had a very large two bedroom unit that overlooked the pool. The mainslopes of BC were easily accessable via a ski bridge. A terrific set up. We saw several other families also staying at the facility, and enjoying the hot tubs and pool. It was a wonderful vacation for us, and very quiet at night, so the kids settled right down to sleep. So you might want to check that out, as an option.

We did see some of the Arrowhead Village area, and think that also would be very workable for families. And some of the units have ski in and out access, right on the slopes. The Arrowhead base resturant area has a great food area with oven fired pizzas, and a fire in the plaza for warming up a bit. The Arrowhead slopes are great for intermediate skiers as well, the more advanced will want to move over to the grouse mt. lift.

If you go, on Thursday nights they have fireworks, and if you are a level 5 skiier, then you can ski down the mt. with glow sticks as part of the parade. It is explained on the BC ski trail map. My husband and son enjoyed that,it was a memorable part of their trip, tho I think they liked the evening at the Beano cabin best. A bit expensive, but great memories.
