I'm planning on visiting the Springs at the beginning of August.
I have been reading through various threads in the forum and from what I understand, the transit system is very limited and the distance to some attractions is long so it's recommended to have a car.
I could rent a car but I want to look at alternative options. I read a thread on bike rental shops and I was thinking this could be a good alternative to visit closer attractions like the Air Force Academy and the Garden of the Gods. I looked at the Bike Colorado Springs Bicycle Map to give me an idea of distances. I know how to ride a bike but I don't do it regularly and obviously, with the altitude change I understand the ride could be more strenous.
Are there any travellers or residents who have visited the Springs by bike and can comment on the feasibility, the pros and the cons of using this mode of transportation?
