First time skier!!!

My family will be going to Crested Butte in December. Any tips for first time skiers? One party in the family really wants to go snowmobileing any recommendations on companies?

Drink lots of water.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol the first couple of days as they compound altitude's dehydrating effects.

Take a baby aspirin every morning and evening to thin the blood and improve oxygenation.

Hi Only,

Crested Butte has some wonderful areas for first time skiers.

First, I would suggest taking at least a day or two of lessons. For first time skiers, this will be the difference between an enjoyable first time ski experience and a painful and frustrating first few days of vacation.

As far as where to go at the resort, make your way over to the Painter Boy lift. It's an entire mountain for beginner and early intermediate skiers serviced by three lifts that never have a lift line, not even during xmas week. All three lifts meet at the top and there's a restaurant with plenty of comfortable outdoor seating so if your family decides to split up they can continue to meet up after each run.

For snowmobiling, there's a desk right inside the Avalanche restaurant in the base area. No matter which operation you decide on, most snowmobile tours will be going to the same locations during the early season.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Enjoy!
