Couple Trying to Travel Cheap!

My boyfriend and I will be driving up to Denver at the end of March for about 2 weeks. One of the weeks will be for fun... and we are looking for cheap things to do. We are in our early twenties, and we both love the outdoors, active, like the small town feel, and love good music... but all on a very tight budget. Any ideas?

You want cheap? How about free? This site has hundreds of suggestions all over Colorado for free things to see and do:

You'll probably want to use either the "by region" option to look at "Front Range North" for things more in the Denver area, or the "by category" option to look for music or recreation suggestions. There is also a calendar for finding free things that are only available on a specific date, such as concerts.

Nothing cheaper than grabbing some sandwiches and driving up the mountains. Well...except the price of gas I guess. THere are lots of great places within a days drive. Rocky Mountain National Park is nice. I also like Georgetown, but my dad always took me fishing there :)

You'll have a car, so driving around the metro area is very doable and there are lots of things to see. If you want to hike, Denver has an incredible number of parks and paths and open space all around. Check out this list of places to go:

I'd highly recommend checking out Evergreen for a mountain town experience. I love the Little Bear Saloon (http://www.littlebearsaloon.com/) for live music and interesting folks who ride Harleys. There's also an outstanding wine shop & deli, Creekside Vineyards (http://www.creeksidecellars.net/) that makes and sells its own Colorado wine. Also some antique shops and such. Less than an hour's drive from downtown.

Denver's "underground" newspaper, Westword, has excellent entertainment and restaurant listings (http://www.westword.com/)

Hope you have a great time!

Garden of the Gods in colorado springs is FREE and spectacular scenery.about 45 minutes from Denver take I-25 south. Nearby is Manitou springs a pretty little mountain town. I think they have reopened tours of the AirForce Academy there also. For scenery you can drive up Pikes Peak, hike & picnic
