Beach? Did I get your attention:)

Now I know there are no oceans or big lakes in CO but was wondering if there are any sandy/beachy areas in or near denver where we can relax on some sand near a river or small lake and possible go in the water to cool off? Thanks!

Boulder Reservoir was my "beach" when I was a kid. www.bouldercolorado.gov/index.php…

Spent some young adult years at Cherry Creek Res link above!

Also Aurora Reservoir gets some thumbs up from locals. https:/…438541.pdf

A bit further away from Denver is Jackson Lake State Park. …state.co.us/parks/…20main.aspx

Cherry Creek is lovely. Chatfield has a nicer view of the mountains, but I am partial to the layout and vegetation at Cherry Creek.

Both Cherry Creek and Chatfield State Parks have beaches. Both are nice and the water will be cold. My preference for best beach is Bear Creek Lake Park (not a state park). This is on the west side of town at Morrison Rd and C-470. The beach and park are both very nice. In my opnion, the nicest beach in metro Denver. Also Bear Creek Lake Park is just one minute from Morrison (a cute artys walking around town) and the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. After the beach I would walk around Red Rocks (free and open to the public when there is not a concert going on) to stand on the stage where the Beatles and countless rock legends stood and then walk around Morrison to check out the shops and have dinner too.

I agree with Jeepman - Bear Creek Lake Park is a beautiful place to soak up the sun and swim. It is usually not crowded at all during the week. Also, you can rent a paddle boat, sailboard, canoe or kayak. And there is a water ski school if you are interested in that.

The park also offers horseback rides.
