First visit to the Denver area

My husband and I (and hopefully, our two adult children) will be visiting the Denver area the first week of July, 2012. Our nephew and his family live in Castle Rock. I am trying to find a location that will be centrally located between the Denver airport (in case we are picking up/dropping off adult children mid-stay), my nephew in Castle Rock and the places that we would like to visit in the area (Pike's Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park and other places that I still have to research). We would like to rent a condo, cabin or home for the week. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked VRBO for a rental in Castle Rock or Castle Pines? That might be your best bet if you want to pick one central location. That would give you easy access to I-25 for getting to and from DIA and Colorado Springs. Nothing terribly exciting or scenic about the area, but it might offer the most convenience and would put you right near your nephew.

I have checked listings for those two areas - not much available. I was thinking Golden might be kind of interesting?

I was thinking Golden or Evergreen, but didn't mention them because they wouldn't really be central...well, sort of, I guess.

I wish I knew the area a little better. Seems like it is so big and nothing of interest is near the airport side of Denver. I am trying to figure things out now.

I found places in Littleton and Golden that look OK - are these nice towns to be located in?

The first one is a little big for just 4 of us, although very reasonable. I had already looked at the Lodge in the Pike and I did think it looked nice. Thanks so much. I think Sedalia is a good location.

That does look nice. Golden would also be a good place to be, IMO, depending on the property, of course. Convenient to getting to Rocky Mountain National Park, and you could take C-470 south, then east to connect to Interstate 25 to get to Castle Rock. and Colorado Springs. And not hard to get to the airport from there... It's just going to be a bit of a drive wherever you stay, but Sedalia would be closer to your nephew, sounds like.

The other area to look at would be Cherry Creek. Not far from Colorado Blvd and 25 to go south to Castle Rock. Hwy 6 to go West. Plus Cherry Creek offers great opportunities for shopping and dining. Make certain it is Cherry Creek proper not just the Cherry Creek "area"
